We invite all SPD friends and members to sign up for the Music in Plymouth 5Kwalk/run on Saturday, June 24 at 8am. Keep active and become stronger and healthier. Sign up here for the 5K and order a t-shirt to show your SPD colors.

Senior sunday

Senior Recognition Brunch

June 4th, 2017

High School Seniors and their parents, are invited to a celebration breakfast in their honor on Sunday, June 4 at 9:30 a.m., in the Center for Faith and Life. We will celebrate your graduation by reflecting on your experiences, storytelling, and sharing words of wisdom. We will also take some time to give you a small gift and learn about your future so we can continue to support you on your faith journey.

After the breakfast, you and your family are invited to join the 11 a.m. worship service to be recognized as a graduating senior. This year, we are not going to wear graduation robes or hats for this service. All of our seniors will be recognized, prayed for, and receive a blessing during this service.

**Please register Parents and Seniors only for the brunch, due to space limitations.

Choose your herbs to plant a Herb Bowl with Heidi Heiland, at Heidi’s Lifestyle Gardens, 7555 County Road 116, Corcoran, MN 55340. Those who would like to carpool meet at the church at 6 p.m.

Cost is $35, includes a 12" pot, quality potting soil, 3 herbs, a 4-pack of annuals, 5 stems/sticks for embellishments and information on benefits of planting herbs and using them in your diet.

Youth Vacation Bible School

Our week of jam-packed fun and learning will be June 12-15 from 8:45-11:45 a.m. each day. Together, we’ll embrace this year’s theme of “Maker Fun Factory-Created by God, Built for a Purpose!” We’ll explore our God-given uniqueness through games, Bible stories, music, friendships, discussions, treats and tons of fun! Join us at this exciting event as we learn how God made each of us exactly as we are!

Who: Kids who are 3 years old by September 1, 2016 - Grade 4

Time: 8:45 am - 11:45 am

Cost: $25 per child, with a family cap of $60

Walk in the Garden

Join a group of nature lovers for two delightful summer evening walks through the Eloise Butler Nature Reserve in Theodore Wirth Park. Our guides will focus on two topics as we explore this beautiful reserve.

Each of these Wednesdays, we will spend a portion of our day working and serving others and then we'll head off to do an exciting activity just for fun! This is a great way for kids to discover the joy of serving others and know that they can, indeed, make a difference. The events vary on content, cost, location and age requirements. Please read each carefully. Register for one, or register for all!

Grade requirement is completed in 2016-17 school year.

Cost includes supplies, snacks, bus and admission prices. Times are approximate.

Women s adventure

Women Camping with Trisha

June 29th - June 30th, 2017


Want to give camping a try but don’t have anyone to go with, or don’t have the equipment? How about giving it a shot with some other women from SPD? We certainly won’t be “glamping,” but we won’t be in tents either. The camper cabins at Baker Park have been reserved for us! We’ll enjoy time around the fire while we cook there too. We’ll do a nature craft and some yoga on the beach. We can walk or bike or read or relax or bird watch or any number of other things. Give it a try! You’ll love it!

Even if you want to join us overnight and then leave right away in the morning (if you have to work), that’s okay. It’ll be a great opportunity for fellowship with other women enjoying the outdoors.

High School Mission Trip

Mission Trip to Chicago, Illinois - July 9-14 - Total Cost $350- register online - Students who have completed grades 8-12 are invited to join as we are head to Chicago, Illinois to spend time doing relational service projects. We will be joining several other youth groups to take on projects such as: stocking a food pantry, serving meals at a soup kitchen, participating in homelessness awareness, and leading kids summer programs. This week of service is sure to be a highlight of the summer for our youth, as well as, the Chicago community.

For many years, Wayzata Community Church & St. Philip the Deacon have joined together to offer Summer Stretch, an opportunity for Middle School Students to come and STRETCH their faith.

Each day we have a fun service event in the morning and then a fun activity in the afternoon.

In the morning you can choose from the following events:

1)Folkestone Assisted Living in Wayzata- visiting and playing games with the seniors living there.
2)Make Dog/Cat toys for the Humane Society.
3)Bake Cookies and make Thank You cards for the Plymouth Firefighters & Police.
4) Make Kid Comfort Bags for Home Free & Sojourner Shelter.
5) Support our Troops Project.

In the afternoon we will go to the following activities:

Tuesday- Lunch, Knockerball & fun activities Wednesday - Lunch, Explore Minnehaha Falls, play games and end the day with Comedy Sportz
Thursday- Lunch, High Ropes and Zipline at Sand Creek Adventures in Jordan MN

Register for one or all three! Friends are definitely invited to come and join in on the fun. You must attend the morning service project to join in on the fun in the afternoon. We have a limit of 60 students per day.

Times are 8:30 am- 5:00 pm. Drop off and pick up at Wayzata Community Church. Refunds will not be given for cancellations after Friday, June 30th.

Cost is $50 per student per day. Sign up for all 3 and receive a free t-shirt and a discount of $5 per day! Be sure to print out the permission slip and bring it with you.

St John's Retreat - Amazing Grace: Lost and Found

Join us at beautiful St John's University for our annual summer retreat for adults - men, women, couples, singles - all are welcome!

This year our guest presenter will be artist James Quentin Young, who finds broken and seemingly useless objects and transforms them into crosses. We will make our own crosses with his encouragement and reflect on the meaning of the cross in our lives. Mornings and evenings are our program time, afternoons are free for whatever you want and need; such as sleep, reading, swimming, hiking, quiet time, crafting or socializing.

Boundary Water Adventure

For students who have completed grades 6-12. Join in on an adventure of some of the most beautiful outdoors in Minnesota. This wilderness experience will give us a chance to explore God’s creation through hiking, camping, and canoeing. This journey is sure to invite each individual to discover God’s presence in nature.

Cost is $ 350 per person. You will need to pay a nonrefundable/ nontransferable $100 when you register. You need to pay here and then click on the link below to register with Camp Wapo. We have the opportunity to take 1 adult per trip, if you are interested in participating as a chaperone, register as an adult and Clay Thomas will be in contact with you.

There will be no refunds for any amount after June 16th.

There were only 14 spots available, 7 for Middle School and 7 for High School. Once those spots are full, we will start a waiting list.

Families of young children, join your friends and neighbors for a splashing good time at St. Philip the Deacon. Wednesday mornings, July 26 and Aug. 2, 10 a.m.–11:30 a.m.

Lots of water activities and wading pools will be provided for splashing fun on the grassy area outside the Childcare Center. Healthy snacks provided. All you will need for the activities are a beach towel, swimming suit and sun screen. Park in the lower parking lot.

Join Our SPD Habitat Build!

July 31st - August 4th, 2017

If you’ve always wanted to help on a Habitat for Humanity build, now’s your chance! Join other SPD members for this week-long project, and make a difference in the life of a family who will be working along side you to build their own home. We need 12 volunteers each of the days of our week, Monday-Friday, July 31 - Aug. 4. Volunteer builders must be 16 years of age or older. No experience necessary—just a willingness to participate, learn, grow and have fun!

If your kids aren't old enough to work at the actual building site, or you don't have an interest in swinging a hammer - how about providing lunch for the workers? People can partner together to prepare and deliver lunch, snacks, and drinks for the site crew. Sign up as Helping with Meals. Nancy Nechas will be coordinating the meal crews.

Little Sister: A Soul Sisterhood Day Camp

July 31st - August 2nd, 2017

Join us for our Little Sister Day Camp, for girls entering 3rd-5th grade! This 3-day adventure includes time to connect with God, make new friends, and explore your creativity and gifts, all tailored just for our "little sisters." If you participated last year, this summer is full of all new activities, crafts, and curriculum.

Day camp runs from 9:00 am-3:00 pm Monday through Wednesday. The camp fee includes all materials, activities and a t-shirt. Campers provide a sack lunch each day. Questions? Contact Amanda Berger at aberger@spdlc.org

Fishing with kids is fun, rewarding and builds lasting memories. Join us at the dock at Parker's Lake in Plymouth for an evening with some of our own fishing experts. The kids will have an opportunity to put what they learn into action and do some fishing.

Come explore God's great outdoors with Trisha Ragner. Boys and girls who have completed Grades 2-5 are invited to join our adventure at Baker Park near Maple Plain. We will pitch our tents, ride bikes, cook over an open fire, swim in the lake, play nature games, enjoy the stars and so much more!

2017-18 Faith Creek Registration

September 9th - September 10th, 2017

Faith Creek is designed for children 3 years old (by 9/1/2017) through 4th Grade. It meets Saturday, at 5:30 pm and Sunday, at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 am.

Cost is $25 per student (discount for families with 3 or more children.)

As you go through the registration process, you will be able to choose your child's class time.

Share your gifts as volunteers are also needed in Faith Creek.

2017-18 begins a new ministry for 5th grade students called "Follow our Faith". Parents and 5th grade students are invited to the Bridging Meeting on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 10:45 - 12:30 pm, in the Center for Faith & Life.

No cost for 5th Grade Students.
